Granite is one of the hardest materials for counters, and available in an array of colors and patterns. Stone materials generally require minimal maintenance. A sealer should be applied every year or two, and at least annually on lighter colors to prevent staining. Granite is also a good choice in bathrooms, although some prefer marble, a softer material. But that's OK because bathroom counters get far less use. Synthetic materials such as Corian® do not require any sealing, but are not as durable as granite.Products such as Caesarstone® and Silestone®, which are comprised of natural quartz, are some of nature’s strongest and most durable materials.
